Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the post-Cold War era, when the United States was the only superpower, Iraq was one of the countries that first attracted the attention of the United States. In the 1990s, the US-led coalition invaded Iraq to protect Saudi Arabia’s and Kuwait security, and Iraq was eventually defeated. After this intervention, the USA imposed sanctions on Iraq and intervened repeatedly militarily. Additionally, the United States provided financial support and organized those opposed to the Ba’ath regime. After the September 11 attacks, the United States first invaded Afghanistan and then focused on Iraq as part of the fight against terrorism.
